The name "The Pub at Rookwood Mews" is rooted in the London mews, which are currently alleys behind two rows of houses, but in Victorian times functioned as stables and quarters for grooms and servants. The mews are features of the London neighborhoods where the local pub is an integral part of the community. The Pub, in a setting reminiscent of a London Mews, is also designed to incorporate all the elements of the small community pubs which are such an integral part of English social life. |
